OUR STORY

Revisiting Our Journey

Originally called Hearthstone, a gentleman named Ken Sandin built a lovely Personal Care Home (PCH), with 24 suites to host the elderly in the North Atlanta Area.

He created a beautiful haven shrouded by a canopy of trees in the heart of Historic Roswell. Inside the picturesque, ranch-style home, the strategically designed vaulted ceilings and capacious windows allow an abundance of natural light to pass through the open floor plan. It showcases an idyllic screened-in porch, an enormous living room, an activities room, a massive fireplace, and a sizable dining hall, among the building’s many lovely features.

Over two decades, Ken ran a thriving PCH. With the help of his dedicated staff, family, and friends, he maintained the estimable standards of the facility through the years. The respectable reputation of Hearthstone steadily grew to the brand we trust today.

After meeting Lisa South (a home health nurse who began working at the facility in 2015), Ken offered her the position of Executive Director in 2019. Eventually, Lisa and her husband, Steve South, began the transition of owning Hearthstone.

Now owned by Lisa and Steve, Hearthstone officially became Oak Leaf Manor on the 23rd of June, 2022.

Armed with their love for God, concern for others, and passion for the elderly, the two give their lives to create a wholesome sanctuary where residents feel a sense of camaraderie and belonging—a place where love resides.

About Lisa South

Lisa South holds an Associate’s Degree in Health Administration and Gerontology Certificate. She practices as an LPN and has a nursing career specializing in Home Health and Elderly Care.

Born and raised in Georgia, Lisa has lived in the Roswell/Alpharetta area for over 30 years. She and Steve together have two children, five lovely grandchildren, and three cute furbabies.

With their deep affection for their family and the residents under their wing, she and Steve strive to build a superior residential community way above the norm: robust and satisfyingly lighthearted—a healthy, happy home in every way.
